Don Walsh An Exploratorium is a science museum or similar center where visitors have the opportunity to handle exhibits, perform prearranged experiments, etc.
Need of the Project
India is famous for its museums that prove the country's rich culture. They are an archive of India’s history, government, and archaeology. But there is a thin line between outreach and engagement.
There are very few interactive museums in India, out of these the ones that appeal to children are even fewer.
Site location - Aakkulam, Trivadrum
Kerala is an area that acts as a transition between the city center and the developing IT sector. It holds the potential for a Children’s Interactive Museum, with its combination of quietness and an upcoming bustle of a developing neighborhood.

The museum is defined by a sequence of open-ended play spaces interlaced with the natural elements of the site.

Green Walkway
Walking from the entrance to the first part of the Exploratorium, you get your first glimpse of the sloping expanse of contours taking up one side of the site. The green walkway is a winding path with a play on levels . As the user climbs up the ramp, they become more involved with the natural scenery around them.
Whispering Gallery
The Gallery is at a height deep within a cluster of trees in the quietest part of the site. A technique popular in Japan, the “Nightingale floorboards” makes a chirping sound when walked on. The gallery brings attention to the different species of birds that greet you as you make your way up.
Echo Wall
Inspired by the Echo wall in Beijing, it is named so because of its amazing acoustical design. Two people standing at either side of its 633 foot circumference can conduct a normal conversation thanks to the wall’s sound transmission abilities. The huge expanse of the exhibit also acts as a leisure point, inviting the families to make use of the sprawling gardens. It is also utilized for occasions or performances that require the gathering of a crowd.
